Professional Development Academy – Overview
Behavior that’s admired is the path to power
among people everywhere. Beowulf
Recent surveys have informed us that the American
workplace is a mess. Professional development
figures are at an all-time low, customer service
figures have bottomed-out, professionalism is
on the decline, and throughout all sectors of
the economy, people are becoming ruder towards
one another. Worse yet, surveys indicate that
these numbers are actually trending downward.
It appears that professional development, and
in particular professional conduct, are things
of the past.
This is most disconcerting, for one study after
another has also demonstrated that an individual’s
professional conduct is responsible for over 80%
of their success. Yet the overwhelming majority
of individuals have had little, if any, formal
training in the area of professional conduct.
This includes their elementary education, high
school, college, and even graduate studies. In
our opinion, this is one of the biggest omissions
of the traditional educational system.
The good news is that an increasing number of
executives have rediscovered that the professional
conduct of their employees can quickly become
a competitive advantage in the marketplace. As
a result, they are requiring their executives
and managers to present themselves as professional
representatives of the organization. This includes
their ability to:
|
Develop and
manage their own Strategic Learning Plan |
|
Create a positive first
impression of themselves and their organization |
|
Develop rapport and confidence
with a broad range of individuals |
|
Prepare for and conduct
efficient and productive meetings |
|
Create an array of persuasive
professional correspondence |
|
Communicate effectively
on the telephone |
|
Be at ease with the rules
of dining etiquette and business gatherings |
These strategies and skills allow you to develop
and maintain healthy professional relationships
with your associates, clients, and other constituents,
and conduct your business affairs with a sense
of ease, confidence and class. With this in mind,
these strategies and skills must be considered
a mandate for all executives and managers.
We believe this two-day Professional Development
Academy is some of the most important training
you will ever receive and we are honored to bring
it to you and your Associates! We are also delighted
to report that as you apply these strategies and
skills, your success will come as no surprise.
